The ocean’s mighty force serves as a powerful unifier indeed. Disney Pictures unveiled the first trailer for the highly anticipated “Moana” sequel on Wednesday, instantly shattering records.

Within a mere 24 hours, the teaser amassed a staggering 178 million views, securing its place as the studio’s most-watched animated movie trailer ever. This feat surpasses previous record-holders such as “Inside Out 2” (157 million), “Frozen 2” (116 million), and “Incredibles 2” (113 million). The trailer’s reach extends across various social media platforms, including TikTok, YouTube, X, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.

In this sequel, Moana receives an unexpected summons from her wayfinding ancestors, propelling her on a perilous voyage to the distant waters of Oceania. It promises an adventure unlike any she’s encountered before.

Dwayne Johnson returns to voice the charismatic demigod Maui, while Auli’i Cravalho reprises her role as the spirited Moana. Despite being seven years old, the original film dominated streaming platforms in 2023, according to Nielsen.

Moana 2 sails into cinemas on November 27th, don’t forget that date!
